The Father declares - "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased". All at once, it signifies His unconditional love and foreshadow the Messiah, the identity Jesus bears in obedience and be exalted for it. Through faith and Holy Communion, we are all welcomed to receive this Father's love and called to live as God's beloved children.
